Fiskars 9301 Power-Lever 14-Foot Tree Pruner – Reviews

Bought to prune and remove branches from the 18+ trees on my 1/4 lot and this pole saw/pruner is light but durable enough to get the job done. I wish the rope was a chain, but that would add weight. And since the tool telescopes, it stores easily in my garage. The blade is replaceable so I anticipate keeping this tool 10+ years.

PZ

The Fiskars 9301 cuts through the hard to reach limbs with ease, and it is relatively stable to use. I’ve used extension pruners in the past, and always had problems with the spring mechanism for the cutting blade getting caught up in branches, and trouble with loosening/tightening the extension rod. The Fiskars 9301 doesn’t seem to have a problem in either category, and the lever for extension is easy to use. Watch out for falling limbs if you’re standing right below where you’re cutting! I wish the cutting width was wider so I could get through bigger limbs, but I’ll try the saw blade attachment for those next time.

DK

I have a lot of queen palms that need pruning regularly. But did not want the hassle of power cords, or gas engine maintenance . In order to get the job done easily I bought this pole pruner and saw. It is well made and sturdy. I find it cuts the smaller branches extremely easy and quick using the cutter with the rope. I use the saw on the palm fronds and the saw has teeth on it that are sharp and cuts quickly. The extension pole has a lever lock which is great because it is fast and easy to use. So far i have not found any problems with this tool at all. I highly recommend it.

This pruner doesn’t work well. The extension pole keeps slipping out of the base pole. The saw doesn’t saw it hangs up in the tree and won’t move. The only part of the pruner that works well is the clipper that cuts the small branches. But the rope that pulls the clipper is too stretchy. And you have to wrap it around your hand several times to get it to pull the clipper. All in all. It’s a bad design and made cheap.

String Trimmers – Reviews

This trimmer has proven to be very usable for my 2/3 acre lawn. It is not as high powered as conduct other gas brands out there, but for General trimming around the Foundation, flower beds, fence posts, the etc, it is a great machine. I like the flexibliity of the unit: the handle is built, aluminum shaft telescopes to adjust to the height of the user, and cutter head angle adjusts to ensure the adjustment of the hortizontal uncomfortable. Certainly, a unit, well designed, from the point of view of ergonomics. In the mode of trimmer, the guide/Guard cutter provides close trimming, without damaging accidentally plants or flowers, something difficult to achieve with my old Toro cord. A few snaps Rapids and adjustments and the unit converts a sidewalk or driveway trimmers. A caveat here: cutting nicely as an Edger unit, but it is does not definitively not fed to cut the cord of trench trimmer. When I tried to get the machine to cut the dirt next to the sidewalk, he wavered and the string trimmer would not properly promote. If used only for advanced with an own vertical cut grass, the unit performed nicely. Power-Wise, lithium ion battery of the GT provides sufficient power to handle my trimming routine of 1/3 acres on a full charge. The user manual indicated a cooldown from 30 minutes to cycle for a full recharge, but my refills was about 40 – 45 minutes – still a very rapid cooldown from other models of batteries. I pushed the unit by the fight against certain grasses oversized and in the adjacent vacant lot and cut beautifully, but they obviously strained the limits of its capacity of power unit. It can handle this type of work, but if you have a lot of it, you are better with another machine with more power. If you are looking for a lightweight, easy to use trimmer/edger comfortable with good power for General trimming and edging on a lawn generally size medium, the WE151.5 is a good choice.

I have the Worx GT 18-volt cordless trimmer. This is the more expensive model that features a lithium battery. If you have any amount of lawn trimming to do beyond the circumference of a 5,000 square foot lawn, carefully consider the more expensive model. The battery potential of the standard model is significantly less which means you have less operation time to begin with and gradually deceasing work time as the battery ages. The added expense of the lithium battery is worth the investment.

However beware of the Worx customer service. If for any reason you have a need to invoke a warranty claim on the trimmer, charger, or battery, plan on having at least a free half hour to wait on the phone for a customer service representative. Customer service is only available during a traditional work-hour week. This means if something goes wrong you better be mindful of the anniversary date of your purchase and give calling the Worx customer service your highest priority in your schedule. The email access is unreliable because it seems Worx has only one person responding. If she is out of the office, you will get an automated reply email instructing you to use the phone system.

My lithium battery failed within the time of the one-year warranty. I had trouble reaching a customer service representative during office hours. My email claim resulted in my being redirected to the phone system. Seven days after my warranty expired I finally reached a service representative. Despite the fact of my good-faith effort to get through to customer service the preceding two weeks, I was denied the warranty replacement because I was seven days late. The representatives were empathetically kind about my dilemma but were unable to do anything beyond their willingness to take my order for a new unit. These batteries are expensive.

Buy the BEST once and with care we will never have to replace it.
We are very pleased with the quality and style.
The tire came defected from the factory. We went on line and customer service replaced the entire tire/wheel without question in turn around time. Yes, we will shop via AMAZON.COM and associated vendors.

Richard B

Seems to be fairly high-quality all around. Should last longer and be able to handle more than a plastic alternative. Overall the assembly was straight forward. The risers that keep the tray level are plastic molded, I was hoping for something a bit sturdier here. The gauge of the steel is a little thin (mine was dented during shipping), but that will keep the weight down. All in all I can’t complain.

Loppers – Reviews

I’ve owned a lot of pairs of loppers and I always seem to break or bend the handles. Not so with the Fiskars. I am a strong healthy guy and I can cut through anything I can get into the jaws. This includes branches dead or alive up to 2 inches. I have been using my Fiskars for the last three years for cutting ski and hiking trails in Maine and they continue to perform better than anything I’ve ever used in the past. Another benefit are the bright orange handle ends. I used to tie surveyors flagging to my tools so I wouldn’t loose them if I put them down in heavy brush. The Fiskars handles are always visable and easy to find inspite of my absentmindedness. The price at Amazon is the best I’ve seen by $10-20. Having used this tool hard for the last three summers, I don’t think I will ever have to get another pair of loppers again.

A. Chandler

I don’t write that many reviews, but this product is worth raving about.

For years now I’ve been using various cutting tools for handling the wild area behind my house. Every piece of every tree I cut down either winds up going through the chipper or becomes firewood. So in building the arsenal to do all that efficiently, having a good pair of loppers is essential. This model is nothing less than superb. The chief features to me are:

1. Most importantly, the outer tips of the blades are beveled, thereby preventing them from ever overlapping as the cut is being made so as to prevent them from destroying themselves via chipping the edges. My old cutters failed to have this feature, and I had to constantly watch each and every cut, and I *still* had chipped blades due to this overlapping.

2. Very light.

3. Very strong. The aluminum handles are shaped so as to use the minimum material while maximizing strength along the plane where the force is exherted. My last loppers seemed pretty beefy, but I eventually broke one of the fiberglass handles in half, so metal handles are a must in my book.

4. Cuts like butter, and handles anything piece of wood that will fit in the jaws. The gear action is smooth and highly effective.

5. Easy to spot in the brush thanks to the orange highlights, and in general a very attractive tool.

John Morrison

Easy to use and a plus to all the outher reviues. Ran into a piece of barb wire last fall clearing brush for my daughter, put a nick in the cutter, broke my heart. Called fiskars got 2 new blades about $7/00 each friendly courtious service. I have been logging firewood this summer and these are about as handy as another hand. I dont know if I could break them but I have made them squeek like the log splitter

Yard Carts – Reviews

I bought one of these carts about 6 years ago. I am an artist who participates in art and craft shows so I use it to haul my display, canopy and products. It has held up perfectly over the years. It’s been the best cart I could have purchased. It folds up small enough to fit in the back of my Toyota Tercel hatchback with plenty of room for everything else. It hasn’t rusted or dented. I barely even have to oil the 2 hinged elements (I think I’ve done that once or twice since purchase). I’ve loaded it up with sand bags and heavy umberella stands and it takes a lot of weight. All I do is add air to the tires about twice a year. I use it every weekend so it’s seen a lot of use. I’ve had lots of other crafts people ask me where I got it. They all recognize how much better it is than a dolly that requires straps or bungee cords to secure everything in. This is a great price for it… I almost feel like getting another one, but mine is still fine so I don’t need it.

Esperanza Reynolds

Before we called Customer Service from the manufacturing company and were informed of an easier way to fold the cart, it was a difficult and time-consuming process. It is light-weight and works well otherwise. We did have a problem with the way it was presented online. It is pictured with the rear endgate, which is a bit deceiving since that endgate is not included in the purchase. We based our purchase on that picture, only to find out after it arrived that we would need to purchase the endgate separately.

E. DESIMONE

This aluminum cart made it easy for me to move a variety of things, from dirt to computer monitors. It cleans up easily, it folds, and it will not rust. I bought with intent to haul compost. It did a good job. Then I moved my business, so I washed off the cart, folded it up, and took it in to the office. The cart fits in elevators and through doors, and did a fine job of carrying all sorts of heavy things. When I first looked at these I thought the folding might be nice. Yes, it is. But also, the cart is strong, light, well-balanced… its aluminum construction gives it some nice extras. If you’re looking for a cart, I recommend this one.
