I’ve owned a lot of pairs of loppers and I always seem to break or bend the handles. Not so with the Fiskars. I am a strong healthy guy and I can cut through anything I can get into the jaws. This includes branches dead or alive up to 2 inches. I have been using my Fiskars for the last three years for cutting ski and hiking trails in Maine and they continue to perform better than anything I’ve ever used in the past. Another benefit are the bright orange handle ends. I used to tie surveyors flagging to my tools so I wouldn’t loose them if I put them down in heavy brush. The Fiskars handles are always visable and easy to find inspite of my absentmindedness. The price at Amazon is the best I’ve seen by $10-20. Having used this tool hard for the last three summers, I don’t think I will ever have to get another pair of loppers again.

I don’t write that many reviews, but this product is worth raving about.
For years now I’ve been using various cutting tools for handling the wild area behind my house. Every piece of every tree I cut down either winds up going through the chipper or becomes firewood. So in building the arsenal to do all that efficiently, having a good pair of loppers is essential. This model is nothing less than superb. The chief features to me are:
1. Most importantly, the outer tips of the blades are beveled, thereby preventing them from ever overlapping as the cut is being made so as to prevent them from destroying themselves via chipping the edges. My old cutters failed to have this feature, and I had to constantly watch each and every cut, and I *still* had chipped blades due to this overlapping.
2. Very light.
3. Very strong. The aluminum handles are shaped so as to use the minimum material while maximizing strength along the plane where the force is exherted. My last loppers seemed pretty beefy, but I eventually broke one of the fiberglass handles in half, so metal handles are a must in my book.
4. Cuts like butter, and handles anything piece of wood that will fit in the jaws. The gear action is smooth and highly effective.
5. Easy to spot in the brush thanks to the orange highlights, and in general a very attractive tool.

Easy to use and a plus to all the outher reviues. Ran into a piece of barb wire last fall clearing brush for my daughter,put a nick in the cutter, broke my heart. Called fiskars got 2 new blades about $7/00 each friendly courtious service. I have been logging firewood this summer and these are about as handy as another hand. I dont know if I could break them but I have made them squeek like the log splitter

Not long after I bought these I made the mistake of trying to prune old wood that was really too great a diameter for a small pruner and I broke the cutting blade. Feeling embarrassed, I wrote to Fiskars and asked them if I could buy the part I’d broken. Instead of replying they sent me a new pruner within days. I want anyone shopping for garden tools to know that this is a great company that stands behind its products even when their customers fail to use them properly. How often does that happen these days? (I now always make the trek to the shed for the larger loppers when I need to cut old, thick branches.)

I purchased one of these fiskars lopper and was so very impressed with how well it worked. It helped me cut the branches from a Douglas fir tree as it can easily cut 2 inches.

I owned a pair of Fiskars before and they broke…..not knowing they had a lifetime guarantee, I threw them out. I tried using regular loppers and just couldn’t do it. It was just too painful. Then I bought another pair of Fiskars loppers and I am doing my own pruning, etc. again. I will NEVER buy any other kind….the gears make any task easy for people with hand and wrist problems. I love not having to rely on other people to do the work I can now do myself.

The lopper cuts like it’s going through butter. And, this includes branches that are at least 1.5″ in diameter. I would never again buy a lopper that did not have telescoping handles like this one has. It’s a god send. Keep ‘em short for branches that are lower down and extend them to cut branches that are a foot above your head. It’s a terrific item and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
*** I used it today for the second time. One of the handles fell off (there is a little metal plate that fell out of the metal tube, which acts as a stop to prevent the handle from falling off when extended). I will need to sent the lopper back to Amazon for replacement. I could get the handle back on, but the lock no longer locks the handle in place as tightly as it should me. I still think it’s a great item, just wish it didn’t fall apart.

My dad used to tell me “When all you’ve got is a hammer…..everything looks like a nail”. This set of loppers has much the same effect…..you start SEARCHING for things to prune ! I carry them on my tractor, and with the extendable handles, can reach high limbs very comfortably. The ease of a ratchet-assisted cut, along with the capacity to prune large (I’ve cut many, exceeding 3 inches in diameter) limbs, has exceeded all of my expectations. A heavily made, well designed lopper. I probably will purchase another set, to keep on my utility vehicle.

I was somewhat skeptical that a lopper could handle a 3 inch branch – that’s usually something that I would use a hand saw for. But this lopper actually comes through! It’s the first lopper I’ve used with a ratcheting head which took me some time to get used to. You open the handles wide and the head snaps fully open. You then repeatedly open and close the handles and the jaws ratchets shut until the branch is cut. While this may seem to entail a bit more work, it’s much easier on the arms and shoulders since you’re cutting only a portion of the branch with every stroke. The head locks in the closed position for secure storage.
The extendable handles work well, and have a click stop every few inches. No problems with the handles extending or retracting unexpectedly.
The head is an anvil type head, so it’s best used on dead wood since the anvil crushes the limb when cutting. Live wood is best cut with a bypass lopper so there’s a clean edge.
I use this mainly to chop up cut branches into manageable lengths. Makes quick work of the process. Good build quality – hoping for many years of use.

This thing is a MONSTER. I went nuts in the yard along our property line the minute I got them out of the box. 10 minutes later I had a mountain of brush and was out of things to cut. I didn’t even break a sweat. Ratcheting action is god-mode vs everything I threw at this thing, even some 2 inch dried dead branches that I normally would have had to attack with a hand saw. Top quality construction. Fiskars scored a home run with this one.
